The distance between us was the debut commissioning programme for Capital Art Projects, with new works exploring the changing landscape of Birmingham. The projects focused on the regeneration of Jewellery Quarter and Digbeth and investigate how we, as pedestrians, inhabitants and commuters, use the city.

"For the distance between us Sans façon selected and photographed aspects of the urban landscape which often go unnoticed. The photographs have been positioned in the exact locations where the images were taken and, in keeping with their surroundings, have been installed onto 'street furniture', such as hoardings and advertising boards. The images capture and preserve elements of the city and represent a moment in history. The works will remain installed over a period of time whilst the immediate landscape evolves and develops according to regeneration, the weather and time of day. The work celebrates and embraces the changes that are taking place whilst purporting to a sense of nostalgia."
